Trying Something New

Hey guys! I know it’s been awhile since my last post. Been a little busy trying to be me. lol

I’m sittin’ at the library trying out a new internet situation. What do I mean by that…I know that’s what y’all are sayin’ ?! Well, I’m seriously thinking about getting rid of my internet service and using the public library free wi-fi hotspot instead. Right now I’m typing this post on my Blackberry Playbook tablet while downloading YouTube videos to my phone. It’s a bit different typing on a tablet but not too bad. I’m using the WordPress app for the Playbook. Besides, I don’t call what I do typing by any stretch. It’s more like a hunt-n-peck with a little bit of speed…not accuracy. lol I’ve got to test whether I can upload videos to my YouTube channel but that’ll be another day.

I’m not one to complain and it’s smokin’ hot ouside but I’m gonna call somebody because it’s freezing in here at the libray. Last seek when I came in here I could only stay for about an hour because my teeth were chattering. Today, I have on a sweat jacket and I’m just as cold as I was last week. And I’m not the only one here dressed like it’s early winter.I know that public places probably need some air conditioning but damn, it’s almost August and folks got jackets on…in the South!!! Granted commercial accounts pay a lower rate for electricity than you and I, but to me this is such a waste of money and doubly so with local governments budgets strained to the max.

Oh I also have recently (in the last 3 months) cut the cord by getting rid of my land-line phone. I decided to go with a prepaid phone from Straight Talk. I guess that means I’ll be doing a couple of reviews in the future.

  1. Hi MsFullroller!!! Last year, I, too, released my landline. I save $30.00 a month. I don’t know if I could give up my internet though.

    • Hey Elle!!!! Yeah I’m wishing I had changed over to a cell phone sooner. Don’t know why, but for some reason I was scared of cutting the cord.

I still have my home internet for at least the next month or so and I’ll still have internet if I do decide to get rid of the home internet. Don’t know if I’ll ever get to the point of NO internet. πŸ™‚

  2. Hi MsFullRoller!

You’re good when it comes to the internet. I’d have to have my internet. When I had to do without for a few months, I almost went crazy.

I can do without having a land-line. That pre-paid service sounds very interesting.

    Take care,

    Evelyn

    • Hey Evelyn!!

I have not cut the cord yet as I’m still in the testing phase. And if I do decide to cut that cord I won’t be completely without internet. I’ll explain further in either the cell phone and service review or a separate post. I have somewhat gone without internet service in the past but at the stage where I am now I don’t think I’ll be going completely without anytime soon or in the future if I can help it. lol That doesn’t sound like an addiction does it?! πŸ™‚

Thanks as always for stopping by!

  3. Cool!!! You’re simplifying. I can’t wait to read how it goes. And you’re so right about libraries. They are ridiculously cold. I’m glad you are getting the chance to be you. That’s so important and inspiring. I love to hear that kind of stuff. Keep enjoying life! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks! Not sure if it can be called simplifying but it’s definitely a different way of doing things for me. And it’ll save me a few bucks a month. Oh wow I did not realize other libraries were like that too.

  5. Hi Lill Sis! I enjoyed your article, the financial aspect is especially appealing. I have a friend here who made the same decision, and he has no regrets. It seems we are sharing the same type of weather, jackets on. I wonder why the libraries are cold, could it be lack of financing? in England for example the libraries are being shut down one after the other mainly because of (wait for it) the internet, ironic to say the least,
I enjoy this place I shall visit more often.

    • Hey Big Sis!!! I’ll have to check the library out in the wintertime to let you know. The issue here is that it’s summer…August in the South. That means they had the air conditioning set on a temp of probably well below 70 degrees. To me that’s wasteful.
